Method of Applying the Tag
Loading the Tag in an Applicator
One should administer the tag in the right way by putting the male part of the tag always behind the ear and the female part of the tag on the inside of the ear.
Steps:
- Press the clamp and insert the female part of the tag into the jaw of the applicator with the tag head facing downward.
- Insert the pointed male part into the applicator pin and slide it to the top.
- Check the alignment of the male and female parts by squeezing the applicator. If they are not aligned the installation will not properly result in damaging the tag or the applicator.
Applying the Tag
Before starting, dip the tag into a disinfecting solution that will assist the application and reduce the risk of infection.
Once you are ready, line up the tag between the two-second lines of cartilage between a third and a half of a way along with the ear from its head. Once you have the tag lined up correctly squeeze the Applicator quickly and firmly, you should feel a strong click. Remove the applicator and check the tag is closed, lastly just before you do the job just check that it’s firmly seated.
